Will it blend?

It's 5 pm, and pitch black out. It's only Tuesday, so I still have three more days of walking home from school in the dark. I have a headache. Today has not been a great day. But then I saw this:

And was instantly cheered up. Yes, it blends!

The Na'vi of Hometree, Wisconsin

Oh, youtube, what will you think of next.

Also, I finally figured out how to make this column wide enough for widescreen videos!

RIP Kate McGarrigle

Kate McGarrigle died recently of cancer. She was, with her sister, a major player in Canadian folk music, and has obviously passed the music gene on to her kids. Her sister and her are singing in the above NFB film, The Log Driver's Waltz. For those of you who have never been to Algonquin Park and learned allllllllll about log drivers (who are actually pretty amazing), here are a few articles for you.

Also, who knew you could watch NFB films online?? There goes the next week.

Missing Montreal

Le canadien errant, c'est moi! One of my favourite Canadian folksongs, and definitely resonating these days. Alors, mes ami(e)s, je te le dit moi-même: je me souviens de vous!

Christmastiiiiiiiiime is heeeeeeere

My Christmas break ends on Monday :(. And you know I've been collecting awesome things off the internet, just for you, these last couple of weeks. So, in honour of......Christmas and...... Breaks.....here's a few belated presents.

Here's a short story for you.

And three poems.

And a really scary video.

And the most adorable video ever (not entirely Christmas-related...)

So I hope you all had wonderful holidays, and that this might give you a little strength for the weeks to come!
